The 4 Vitamins Your Skin Isn’t  Getting Enough of..

Topical application of Vitamins (like A & C) is a dermatologist-favorite treatment against aging, signs of sun damage, blemishes, and other skin issues. While nutritional uptake of these vitamins is an intrinsic component of healthy living, topical application of vitamin(s) works by creating a concentrated local action, which is clinically proven to provide up to 90% absorption.

@PuravedaOrganics, we use the four most vital lifelines of healthy skin care – Vitamin A, C, E, and B2 (naturally sourced vs. synthetic) formulations. Here’s everything on how to maximize the benefits from these ingredients:

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is undoubtedly the star vitamin when it comes to skincare. With a concentration of 15-20% and derived from organic fruits like Sea Buckthorn, Citrus fruits (like Lemons & Oranges), or Bilberry – Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that reduces oxidative stress. This super-ingredient also prevents ‘glycation’, responsible for aging, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation.

Promotes collagen synthesis and aids in cell renewal. Vitamin C is also photo-protective that protects your skin from sun damage and improves skin barrier.

Note that different forms and concentration of Vitamin C in skincare products can alter its effect on skin. Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) from natural sources, in clinical strength of 10-20% and a lower pH of 3.5 is considered to be the most effective for topical application as suggested by Harvard studies

Derived from the most natural sources and guaranteed by extensive clinical trials, BioScience Peptide Complex is one of the best ways to replenish your with Vitamin C-bioflavonoids without side effects. ‘Bioflavoinoids’ aid in the fast-absorption of Vitamin C into the skin and work synergistically to neutralize free radicals.

Editor’s Pro Tip: Puraveda Organics Hydrator/Toners are an instant recourse to upgrading your Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B2, and Vitamin E levels, anytime.

Those with hypersensitive and inflammatory skin, can especially benefit with Vitamin C as it repairs tissues and prevents further damage to the barrier.

Vitamin C bioflavonoids in SunProtect SPF 30+ are photoprotective (against UV damage). Also controls melanin production.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E (or Alpha-tocopherol – its active form) is a fat-soluble antioxidant and an extremely important vitamin when it comes to moisturizing and healing your skin by supporting vital cell functions. The biomolecule:

  • Promotes active biosynthesis of collagen and elastin,
  • Provides photoprotection  by absorbing UV rays, and
  • Beneficial for soothing inflammation and healing scars.

Nuts and seeds oils are the most important sources of Vitamin E. We use Vitamin E in many of our skincare formulas including BioScience Peptide Complex, SBR Hydrator/Toner, Daily Foaming Cleanser, Daily Hydrator/Toner, and others.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is an important anti-aging ingredient, chiefly used in skincare to “reprogram” the cells. It can train the cells to power-up cellular turnover, and thus improve overall skin repair speed, elasticity, and balance.

Naturally sourced Vitamin A has the active ingredient “beta-carotene” derived from Apricots, Brown rice substrates, and Carrots. It also treats acne, seborrheic or oily skin (and enlarged pores), and pigmentation spots.

Note that more often than not, when it comes to anti-aging skincare,  due to lower manufacturing costs, it’s the synthetic forms of Vitamin A, aka ‘Retinoids’ (or its other forms such as Retinol, Retinoic Acid,  Retinaldehyde) that are used.  This can have negative side effects, such as dryness, irritated skin, redness, peeling, and higher sensitivity to UV rays/sunburn.  @PuravedaOrganics, we use only natural forms of Vitamin A (Provitamin A and Carotenoids from plant sources) in our Organic Hydrators/Toners and Anti-aging serums to normalize skin repair mechanism in the most natural way, without any side effects.

Vitamin B2

Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin supports growth and development, by channelizing the energy of the skin cells. An important ingredient in all our Organic Hydrators/Toners, BioScience Peptide Complex, Rejuv Serum, Aloe Eye Serum, and Daily Foaming Cleanser, Vitamin B2 is a micronutrient that is great for healing and the treatment of rosacea, eczema, dermatitis, and sun-damaged skin. It controls skin inflammation to ease the symptoms of aggravated Pitta skin. Some of the best natural sources of Vitamin B2 are almonds, spinach, sunflower seeds, and milk.
