When it comes to treating rosacea, one of the most important steps in your protocol is cleansing. Proper cleansing not only removes dirt, debris, grime, and oil which can clog pores but also prevents the overgrowth of demodex mites (one of the primary causational factors in this condition – learn more).
According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), you should always use a mild, rosacea-friendly cleanser (not a detergent based “soap”). Cleansing 2X times a day with Exfoliation/Masking (2-3X times a week) reduces the chances of irritation and enhances the working (treatment) action of our advanced rosacea serum treatment.
Why is Cleansing Important?
Throughout the day, your skin is bombarded with environmental pollutants, grime, and bacteria. Add into the mix shed skin cells and sebum (skin oils). Also, as mentioned above, patients with rosacea also develop demodex mite (normally a part of your skin’s microbiome) overgrowth compared to normal skin, which are for reasons not yet known to science, irritating and sensitizing to rosacea skin types. Daily facial cleansing removes these impurities, balances pH levels, hydration and product retention for a healthy, vibrant complexion.
Cleansing Ingredients for Rosacea Skin
Detergent-based facial cleansers are an absolute NO for rosacea/sensitive skin. Ingredients that cause only minimal adjustment for normal skin, can cause severe reactions in sensitive rosacea skin. Therefore, it is important to choose mild/natural/non-toxic and non irritating cleansing agents once you are diagnosed with a Pitta Dosha.
The key cleansing active ingredient in our @PVO SBR Cleanser is ‘Yucca Root’ – a natural ingredient rich in saponins, which deep cleanses without drying out.
SBR Cleanser also has ‘Neem leaf Extract’ which is an All-in-One purifying cleanser for balancing aggravated Pitta Dosha. It inhibits microbial overgrowth (such as Demodex mites & acne-causing bacteria), deep cleanses pores, and reduces inflammation.
Why SBR Cleanser is Rosacea-Skin Friendly
Dermatologically tested, and 100% organic, our SBR Cleanser is a gentle and extremely effective non-detergent cleanser. It naturally purifies your skin, while removing environmental toxins and free radicals, without being harsh to the skin.
- Comfrey, Green Tea, Hawthorn Berry and other calming botanicals effortlessly calm irritation, burning, and dry tightness, unlike detergent/soap/SLS based cleansers.
- Salicylic Acid (Extracted from the bark of White Willow Tree) and Neem are natural anti-inflammatory agents that further remove Demodex, treating the underlying cause of redness and irritation.
- For balancing your complexion, SBR Cleanser is adjusted naturally with a pH value of 4.5.
- Oils of Almond, Avocado, Sunflower, and Grapeseed retain moisture, while Vitamin C bioflavonoids and Ginkgo heal and rejuvenate the skin.
Summary: Our SBR Cleanser is an ideal facial cleanser for sensitive and/or rosacea skin types. Here’s what our clients are saying about this product:
How To Correctly Use SBR Cleanser
Use SBR Cleanser 2X times a day (AM & PM) as the first step of your Rosacea Regimen.
Step 1: Wet your face and neck with lukewarm, clean water (If you have Hard Water, we recommend using a high quality water filter/softener for best results…Detergents are neccessary to remove hard water residue from your skin, and are much too harsh for your rosacea skin).
Step 2: Place a small coin-sized amount of SBR Cleanser onto the palm and massage gently in a circular motion on your face, neck and decollete for a couple of minutes to activate microcirculation.
Step 3: Rinse thoroughly and pat mostly dry. Leaving skin slightly damp. Follow with our SBR Hydrator/Toner (Hydrators go further and are more effective when applied to slightly damp skin).
Facial cleansing is the first (but indispensable) step in your rosacea regimen. Our entire clinically proven SBR line consists of a minimalist treatment regimen that heals the symptoms of rosacea and treats the underlying cause of redness and inflammation. To learn more, check out FAQs on Rosacea.
