To err is human, and if you happen to find you are already breaking some of your new year’s resolutions, you’re certainly not alone! The best way to keep  your goals intact is to start with small, easily achieved steps that aren’t difficult  to achieve. In 2023, you can improve your skin with these easy and effective New Years skin care goals:

1. Opting for natural & effective active ingredients

An ‘active ingredient’ is one of the effective components in a  skin care formula that works to about specific changes in the skin. Different ingredients can be used for targeted treatments such as protecting the skin from free radicals, improving skin tone, hyperpigmentation, acne, wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging, reducing acne, etc.

Active ingredients should be used in proven effective concentrations for them to work as promised.  For instance, if your skin care formula contains the active ingredient Hyaluronic acid, then it must be used @1-2% at least 2X times a day (morning and evening) in order to be effective.

Some of the other effective active ingredients that we use in our products are: Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Salicylic acid, CoQ10, Peptides (Argireline & Matrixyl), Vitamin E, etc.

Besides the active ingredients, an effective skin care formula will also have other  ingredients that play a key role in delivering the active ingredient deep into the skin.

For best results, use products that are made with multiple active ingredients and nourishing/non-toxic base ingredients.

2. 10-minute morning & evening skin care

For a younger-looking and beautiful complexion, all it that is required is a less than 10-minute morning and evening skin care regimen to be followed every day. The regimen should include these steps:  (depending on  your skin type)  Cleansing (Daily Foaming Cleanser, SBR Cleanser, or Pore Perfect Cleanser).

Leave skin damp, and allow a 1-minute break after every step so that your skin absorbs the nutrients at optimum levels.

3. Sustainable skin care is the new norm

With growing environmental concerns across the globe, the time has come for  to not only invest in good skin care, but also in clean and eco-friendly products. Environmentally conscious product choices with a  low carbon impact that  are free of toxic chemicals, and microbeads, with low-packaging waste should be your top priority. All products made at Puraveda are:

4. Ditch these ingredients from your skin care

Besides parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, and other common toxins in beauty products, you should also consider eliminating ingredients such as synthetic fragrances, colors, and even ingredients like retinol from your skin care.

Since fragrant ingredients are often not disclosed, it becomes harder to predict whether it is the reason behind your persistent skin problems. Always invest in artificial fragrance-free products or those made with pure essential oils for the best results.

5. Sun protection is essential for all seasons

If nothing else, prioritizing sun protection should be your principal skin care goal. Even when you are outside on the cold winter months, the application of sunscreen is a necessity. It shields your skin against the harmful effects of UV rays such as sunburn, hyperpigmentation, aging, and skin cancer.

Your sunscreen does not have to be expensive or with high SPF (anything higher than 35 is a waste of money and ineffective) and should contain the following features:

  • Broad spectrum sunscreen (protects against the sun’s UVA, UVB, and UVC rays).
  • Has SPF of at least 30.
  • Water-resistant.
  • Barrier protection with Zinc Oxide, and to a lesser degree, Titanium-dioxide.
