As citizens of the Earth, we all have a role in ensuring our planet can flourish and thrive for future generations. One important thing we can do to reduce our carbon footprint (the amount of carbon dioxide released as a result of our activities) and a great way to accomplish that is to use eco-friendly skin and hair care products.
1. Eco-friendly Packaging
How a product is packaged tells a lot about the brand. All our products are packaged in PET (or Polyethylene terephthalate). PET packaging is non-reactive to the ingredients inside, has light-blocking ability, is BPA-free, and of course, Eco-friendly as well as recyclable. Our packing boxes are also made from recycled and recyclable materials.
2. Clean Beauty Formulas
While ‘Clean beauty’ is an unregulated term, it is generally understood to mean products with ingredients that do not harm our health or surroundings. Due to their ‘clean nature’ these products also generally have high performance or efficacy.
At Puraveda Organics, we prioritize the use of ingredients that are ethically and sustainably sourced, primarily plant-based, GMO-free, natural, and organic. The formulas are free from any petroleum-based ingredients, silicones, phthalates, artificial preservatives, fragrances, colorants, and other synthetic additives.
3. Reef-Safe Products
Did you know that literally TONS of toxic chemicals from sunscreens such as Oxybenzones and Octinoxate are dumped into the worlds oceans annually, causing “bleaching” ie: death to the worlds’ critical coral reefs?
With chemical sunscreens soon to be outlawed, what are your alternatives? There are currently only 2 (two) two approved sun blockers considered reef-safe ‘Zinc Oxide’ and Titanium DiOxide’, and Titanium in it’s powdered state is a danger to workers from inhalation. Our Sun Protect SPF 30+ (after years of tweaking the formula) contains what we have discovered to be the sweet spot between maximum UV protection and ease of application.. This perfectly balanced 22% Non-nano Zinc Oxide is not only reef-safe, but also provides efficient broad-spectrum (UVA, UVB, and UVC) sun protection.
As well, when it comes to exfoliation and cleansing, many commercial facial cleansers and scrubs contain microbeads and microplastics that pass unchanged into our waterways and can affect aquatic life. Our products are 100% free from these chemical and physical toxins.
4. Use of Wild-gathered Ingredients
Many, if not most, of our ingredients such as Shea Butter, St. John’s Wort, Helichrysum, Hawthorn Berry, Calendula, Ginkgo, etc., are gathered from their wild & natural habitat. During the collection of these wild ingredients, we follow sustainable harvesting practices with the least human interference so that the self-renewal ability of individual ingredients remains intact, without affecting the soil, microbiota, and the plant’s natural wild habitat.
5. Sustainable Practices
In the broader sense, sustainability means we pledge to not cause harm to the planet or it’s inhabitants. Besides wild-harvesting and the use of organic ingredients, our company remains small with a much lower footprint than most commercial brands.
6. Ethical Practices
Our products or their individual components are never tested on animals and are cruelty-free. We do not rely on any third-party animal testing agency to ensure that it is safe to be used on human skin.. learn more.
7. Rediscovering the Science of Ayurveda
Our products are clinically proven and formulated based on the amalgamation of Ancient science of Ayurveda and Western scientific lab-based research. Ayurvedic skin and hair care is dosha-based (body and skin type) and makes use of only eco-friendly and plant-based actives and is based in centuries of collected lore. The exciting thing is how often our Westernal Clinical trials mesh perfectly with the experience over the centuries of Ayurvedic medicine.
