Neuropeptides in Skin Care and How They Work

neuropeptides

Most modern anti-aging skin care products focus on powerhouses like Retinol, Vitamin C and phytoactives from natural botanicals. However, neuropeptides/biomimetic peptides like ‘Argireline’ are quite underrated and are less frequently talked about. It’s a great option if you want Botox like results, but without going under the needles. Neuropeptides are definitely much safer than neurotoxins  and are especially, very effective if you’re using a clinically effective formula from the onset of appearance of signs of aging.

What Are Neuropeptides?

Recognized in skin care since the 80’s, Neuropeptides are fragmented portions of proteins (or 2-40 chains of amino acids).   Within the body, neuropeptides are produced in response to pain, injury, and infection, causing the body to respond with inflammation.  Contrary to popular opinion, inflammation is not always a negative. In fact, the body cannot heal or regenerate cells without inflammation.  The trick is, the correct amount of inflammation.

Topically, neuropeptides can act upon neurotransmitters in the skin to halt wrinkle formation. When neuropeptides like Argireline, or Acetyl Hexapeptide 8 are applied topically, the fragments keep the facial muscles from contracting very deeply, while also helping to stimulate collagen growth. Such restricted muscle contraction results in a delay in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and deep expression lines, along with gentle relaxation/softening of existing wrinkle depth, clinically shown to up to 60% reduction with regular use in 6 to 8 weeks.

Argireline  or ‘Topical Botox ’ is one of the best-known neuropeptides. It works by blocking the activity of the enzyme Acetylcholine/SNARE protein complex, responsible for involuntary facial muscle contractions.

The Best Way to Get It

Peptides are best used in the form of lightweight organic serums. Since the active peptides in serums have lower molecular size (unlike non-fragmented proteins like Collagen), these smaller fragments are able to travel deep into dermal cells below the surface.  This greatly benefits individuals who wants to improve texture as well as surface wrinkles and in addition to supporting collagen production. The sooner you start natural anti-aging treatment, the better and longer-lasting the results.

Unlike chemically synthesized products, Puraveda uses Argireline extracted from Organic Brown Rice Substrates, making them highly effective at improving signs of aging, without irritation or other side effects.

In accordance with the most up-to-date clinical findings, we use a concentration of 10% Argireline and 25% Matrixyl in our BioScience Peptide Complex as a base. The duo works outstandingly to help improve your skin’s texture, clarity, brightness, and best of all, fight wrinkles and fine lines in less than eight weeks of following a dedicated Puraveda Organics’ dosha-based skin care regimen. For best results, follow the regimen twice daily (morning and evening).

Skin’s response to Argireline

Every year, our skin’s ability to naturally produce collagen decreases. This results in appearance of signs of aging such as thinning skin with sagging, wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, loss of firmness & elasticity and faded complexion. To counter/slow down this process, Argireline has some of these promising benefits:

  • Diminish fine lines and wrinkles by stimulating collagen.
  • Strengthen skin barrier.
  • Lock moisture loss/improve hydration.
  • Ease inflammation.

With an increase in net collagen productivity, the healing process of the skin is also intensified with peptides. These peptides, in combination with other botanicals and cold-pressed organic oils help calm and soothe rosacea, eczema, psoriasis and other hypersensitive skin conditions.

When supplemented with antioxidants and healing skin actives, peptides work even more effectively. Don’t forget to regularly use our SunProtect SPF30+ to help protect the skin from the UV rays and increase the efficiency of peptide-based serums.
