Exfoliation (Scrubbing) or Masking? – Which is your favorite weekly skin care routine?

While ‘Exfoliation’ cleans out blocked pores, removes deep-seated skin debris, dirt, grime, and surface dead cells, ‘Masking’ serves a completely different function. Our Facial masks are packed with highly concentrated ingredients that soften, nourish, moisturize, tone, and breathe fresh life into your skin. Interestingly, both processes can work synergistically to improve overall skin luminosity and promote faster cellular turnover.

So should you consider buying both? We think not! With our minimalist approach, we designed a formula that provides the dual benefit of both an Exfoliating Scrub + a Mask in a single jar.

Here’s a practical guide of how to use our exfoliating scrub as a mask for different skin types:

Masking for Normal, Dry, or Oily Skin

Our Papaya & Honey Exfoliation Mask and Scrub has both Enzymatic Exfoliators (Papaya Enzyme and Honey) and Physical Exfoliators (Micronized Walnut Shells). It also has Neem, Eyebright, Fennel Seed, Yucca Root, Lemon Essential Oil and other botanical actives.

If you have Vata/ Kapha Dosha, use this version as a pampering mask treatment for deep cleansing and detoxification. It will have an effect similar to desquamation (peeling) at the microscopic level, without damaging the skin barrier.

Step 1: Cleanse with Daily Cleanser (for Dry/Normal) Skin or Pore Perfect Cleanser (for Oily or Combination Skin).

Step 2: Apply Papaya & Honey Exfoliator Mask and Scrub in a thin layer. Leave on skin for up to 1 hour, while you enjoy some good music, read a book, and unwind. Rinse well and pat dry.

Step 3: Follow your treatment with one of our Dosha-based Organic Hydrators and then BioScience Peptide Complex, and/or Rejuv Serum (for Skin Under 35 or Oily Skin)/ Collagen Boost Serum (for Skin Over 35).

Note: The key differences between Masking and Exfoliation with our products is the “amount of time” you let it be on your skin and the “process of application”

For exfoliation, just scrub off a small amount for a few minutes onto problematic areas, whenever you need some instant complexion boost.

For masking, apply a thin layer and leave it for at least 5 to 60 minutes. The active ingredients work on their own and penetrate deeper into the skin to purify and nourish pores.

For a complete guide, visit the ‘How To’ section on individual product pages.

As recommended by dermatologists, either masking or exfoliation should not be done more than 2-3X times per week.
