Whether you are aware of it or not, your favorite commercial beauty product may be harmfully impacting the environment. Production of these products is often unsustainable due to ingredient toxicity, plastic pollution due to excess packaging waste (soil and ocean plastic pollution), with the introduction of non-biodegradable substances in the environment… Over time, all of this leads to serious concerns regarding both the sustainability of the environment and the safety of humans.

So if you are someone who wants to switch to clean, sustainable living then your primary focus should be selecting products that are not only effective but  ecologically conscious. By ecologically conscious, we mean ‘simple lifestyle choices that don’t hurt the earth’.

At Puraveda Organics, we take our social responsibility seriously, and here are our top three priorities:

Ethical Sourcing and Farming

Being a small-scale brand, our priority is to use pure and authentic ingredients that are environmentally sound.

At Puraveda Organics, the ingredients we use in our products come from either:

  • Organic and biodynamic farms (USDA-certified organics sourced from local farmers), or
  • Sustainably hand gathered/wild-gathered (or those from seasonal foraging trips) in the case of botanicals that are not climatically favorable to grow in the USA.

While obtaining these ingredients, we take utmost safety to secure them without contributing to the loss of biodiversity and affecting the local producers. For the ingredients that we source from developing countries or small-scale farmers, we follow ‘fair-trade practices’. In exchange, we offer fair and independent-building prices.

On another note, it is important here to talk about the concept of ‘greenwashing’. Since there are numerous benefits to using natural ingredients, many big brands have recently started re-labeling their products. But in reality, they have been following the practice of ‘greenwashing’, which unsubstantially deceives the customers with a false hope that the product that they are choosing is laden with natural ingredients. However, the quantity of the ‘marketed’ ingredient is so low in concentration (or even Zero%!) that it would hardly make any real difference.

Minimal Carbon Footprint

Our manufacturing facilities and in-house labs make production in small batches and are designed to generate a minimum carbon footprint.

Despite our products being pharmaceutical grade, we have been able to maintain their quality largely due to our green business model. We use natural, organic, renewable, and recyclable materials to develop our products. The approach helps reduce gas emissions and waste.

We are also a cruelty-free brand and do not use animal-based ingredients in our products. Our products are pesticide/insecticide-free and Non-GMO.

Eco Packaging

Over the years, we have given special attention to packaging and have minimized the use of plastics and non-biodegradable substances. As plastics are far more destructive to the planet than burning fossils, we negligibly use plastics to package our products. About 70% of our packaging is made of ‘Glass’ (mostly used in small bottles such as our Anti-aging Serums) and the rest are BPA-free PET plastics. All our packaging is recycled and recyclable.

Talking about our print labels, we use special substrates in order to avoid a second layer of lamination/ plastic sheeting. This further cuts down the use of plastic (something that is often neglected by most brands).

All our formulas are also free of microplastics.

The entire idea of these robust ecologically conscious and green initiatives @PuravedaOrganics is to do our bit to make the earth more livable and sustainable.
